Press & Published Works

Lost in Translation...German Pet Portrait Press!

Waz I am represented by The Dogs-Gallery (Ihr Hund Als Kunstwerk) in Germany, they just sent me this press clipping from "location-magazin" of the WAZ in Essen. They also mentioned a new connection with a gallery in Berlin...so perhaps soon I'll be painting more European Pups...!

Chicago Dog Magazine Feature!

Picture 4

I'm very excited to be a featured Pet Portrait Artist in the premiere issue of Chicago Dog Magazine! My paintings of Oliver, Scruffles and Nel were the editor's picks...this is Oliver's second feature in a national dog magazine, he was also my featurted portrait in Modern Dog Magazine.

Using My Art to Help Our Furry Friends

Picture_12

Tree House Animal Foundation has their Annual Stray Cat Strut on Sunday, May 4th. I created the design for this Annual Fundraising Event. These folks know kitty cats and they do such good work to find homes and improve the lives of so many of Chicago's homeless felines and other animals too.

Bekind07 Chicago Animal Care & Control Will be using my banner design again for Be Kind To Animals Week, May 4-10, 2008. The banners will hang at Chicago's City Hall in the Loop.

Art Business News

Abn
I was very happy to find my booth shot from the One of a Kind Show featured in the Picture Gallery section of the March 08 Issue of Art Business News Magazine! This is a national trade journal for the art, publishing & framing industries.

Blessed with Press...

SmsuntimesWhat a nice way to start off the New Year: Free Press! I received a phone call on December 27th from Sun-Times reporter Celeste Busk, asking to interview me for a story about artists transforming their home work spaces. I thought, "hmmm...ironic? but no, I would like to transform a workspace but OUTside my home. She must have gotten my name because someone told her about my previous renovated studio space in Bucktown". (yes, in fact Maria Mariottini, my old neighbor and long time maven of the Bucktown Arts Fest). When I explained that we had not made any big changes for my workspace here on Washtenaw and that I was starting to research store fronts and spaces outside my home she said she'd need to check with her editor. She called back and said we'll still do the story and shape it to  your situation because we like and want to use the studio photos from your website. (Thank you Laura Nugent, who gave me the idea to take some working photos and post on site). She has great ones on flickr, check them out. So she based the article on past, current and potential future studio...I still have a lot of investigating to do, among locations, the old Cooper Lamp Factory on Diversey (less than a block away) is being converted into a green business building called the Green Exchange, that could be really cool. Big windows, loft space, close to home, parking for clients and eco friendly, there may be some retail too. I'm on the fence, I dream about working (above ground!) in a large sunny space but also would really like the retail storefront for public exposure. Is it possible to have both, have it close to home, affordable and dog friendly?! That's my order to the universe. So the photo is from the article, Potential that Pops, which appeared in the Real Estate section of the Chicago Sun-Times on Friday, January 4th. There are also photos online and this edited down version of the article.

As Seen on The ispot...

Picture_15
I did it! I am now represented on the ispot Illustration Portfolio Website. Of course I do not know if I chose the right images but I can change and edit them at any time. I'm still on the fence regarding getting a rep (this is one of the reasons I was holding off on putting my work up, I didn't want to do it without getting a rep first). Almost every illustrator I spoke with said, you can do it on your own...I reply that I have a hard time asking for $ and worry about contractual issues. Guess I'll have to wing it...!

My (very edited!) CLTV Interview...

Picture_16 Picture_23_2 I'm almost embarrassed to post this...but hey you can't knock free press. I was briefly interviewed at the One of a Kind Show & Sale today by CLTV/Metromix Chicago. The link to watch it is here - the video clip is on the right hand side, under Chicago Designers @ The One of a Kind Show. I was nervous...I speak without thinking first...and say too much - so they edited a lot. My mission is to make people happy with my art? well yes, but I somehow didn't get the whole dog adoption awareness message in there. Next time! (I really should do some interview practice because I'm never happy with the results...add that to the "to do" list!) Picture_22_3

The show really is spectacular this year, enormous and beautiful..so many wonderful talented people in one place. It's been great fun to see so many of my artist friends from out of town and to connect with many of the customers whom I've met at this show over the last 7 years of exhibiting. I've also got some good artist trades for artwork coming on Sunday...check back, I'll be posting all my new eye candy!

Dog Art Today...yesterday

Picture_9 Moira McLaughlin (artist & blogger) featured my art work on her blog yesterday, it's called Dog Art Today. Her blog showcases daily dog art from around the world, pretty cool. It includes features on contemporary dog art, the history of dogs in art, dog art auctions, books, posters, fashion and decor. Check out her custom dog collages and read her interesting biography...(she used to be Kevin Costner's assistant). Thanks for the press Moira!

Adopt A Pet In The Park...

Picture_7_2
I donated the design of this Ad for Chicago Animal Care & Control's upcoming pet adoption event in Lincoln Park on October 14th. The full design has a lot more text etc. I made this one for postcards and another for possible t-shirt printing. Watch for it in an upcoming issue of the Chicago Reader. I hope it brings lots of people out for the event so more of Chicago's homeless pets find good homes.

Before the lights went out!

Picture_3Just before we lost power from the crazy storm that passed through Chicago on Thursday of last week I got to read the article 'One Honkin' Big Picture' that Bill Hageman of the Chicago Tribune posted on his "Unleashed" Blog. I'm not very good at interviews and didn't look online for tips until AFTER I spoke with him...(genius huh?, now I know for next time!)

We also got a very exciting call from The Ellen Show a week ago, but have not heard back since so I won't get my hopes up too high...but it would be so great to get any kind of exposure on her show! She is a wonderful animal advocate...

Rock the Cats-Bah!

Picture_11 I just finished designing this invitation for the Paws L.A. "Pet Art 9" Pet Art Auction Event...their theme: "Rock the Cats-bah". The event is in November and raises money for programs to keep financially or physically debilitated people and their animal companions together, a wonderful cause and so important for both the pets and their guardians. (And yes, I've had the Clash's
"Rock the Casbah" running through my head for the last 3 days!)

International Exposure!

VivaspreadMy painting Spring Has Sprung was featured in VIVA Magazine in Dubaie in the United Arab Emirates! The feature was in their July 2007 issue, it showcased events in cities around the world, and Chicago made it in for the Magnificent Mile Art where I exhibited. Unfortunately the description didn't quite match the event, but I received some great exposure nonetheless.

Picture_11And in Germany on TV at the end of July, my Pet Portraits were featured in a story about The Dogs Gallery on the RTL Regional Television News (Europe's biggest TV Station, or so they told me!).

On a more local note, my Field Sculpture was featured on the photo blog called "The Farmer's Wife". The Farmers Wife was the Recipient of the 2006 Garfield Heritage Society Agricultural Preservation Award. Thanks for featuring my field, Zanne!

Free Press

23closeup_2 I was thrilled to wake up Sunday morning and find a little article about me on the front page of the Home & Garden section of the Chicago Tribune! I couldn't have asked for better placement...top right hand side corner - wow. It was all a result of my April Newsletter blurb about my postcard being used as a prop in 'The Number 23'. I am a lucky gal...and very grateful.Picture_20

Be Kind To Animals...

Bekind07 I just biked down to City Hall to see the banners I designed for Chicago Animal Care & Control for Be Kind To Animals Week. It's always a wonder to me that a digital file that I never saw larger than 10 inches on my screen can hang over my head, 8 feet tall. Every time, I breathe a sigh of relief that it worked! I also donated banner designs for Be Kind to Animals week back in 2005 they featured Alice. Not that you need to be reminded, but be kind to your 4 legged friends and if you are ready to add to your household please adopt ... there are hundreds of cats and dogs waiting for homes in Chicago today. As I left City Hall I saw this beautiful mosaic mural across the street at 120 N LaSalle. It is called "Flight of Daedalus and Icarus" by Roger Brown, It's 27 feet high and 54 feet wide and of course all original. There are hidden gems like this all over  Chicago. I count  myself lucky to have spotted this one today.Flight

A Fun T-Shirt Design!

Picture_10Camp Dogwood asked me to do their logo several years back and recently we hooked up again. I just finished this t-shirt design for their 2007 camps. I'm really happy with how it turned out. It's kind of fun to break out of my boxy compositions for a change. I started with a very rough drawing in my sketchbook which I scanned and then used my fabulous new Wacom Cintiq Tablet to finish it, it's an amazing feeling to draw on the screen.

Older, Smarter, Better!

Picture_4_1I just created this t-shirt design for a wonderful Senior Animal Pet Rescue Group in the Chicago area: Young At Heart Pet Rescue. All proceeds from the sale of these shirts will go towards the many expenses an organization like this has in its efforts to save, sometimes treat and foster these dears until they find forever homes. The shirts will be available for sale at the upcoming Chicagoland Family Pet Expo.

Another Brush with Hollywood!

23Last year I signed a release for the use of several of my postcards on the set of the New Line Cinema Movie: "23" starring Jim Carrey. The  trailer for the movie just came out on their website. In the  kitchen scene my postcard featuring "Urban View" is on the refrigerator next to Jim...I know, pretty small - but still kind of cool. Maybe we'll see more featured in the movie...although it looks like it will be very creepy!

My previous brush with Hollywood was in the movie The Break Up starring Jennifer Aniston & Vince Vaughn. I was one of several artists who played extras and appeared with our art fair set ups at Buckingham Fountain for the closing scene of the movie. After two days of filming it ended up being cut and a completely different ending was shot. That alternate ending is on the dvd - but all you can see is the top of my tent...

My Art On Cingular Phones!

Picture_4At long last...(over a year later!) you can download my images for your cell phone if you have a Cingular account. There are over 70 images, but only a handful seem to be out there so far, you can search under "Shop Ringtones and More" then under graphics search for 'Feldhaus'. Eventually they should also be available with other Carriers such as Verizon, Sprint, Alltel and more...

A Facelift for my Website!

Picture_19 this is only temporary until i really make the big changes i have been dreaming about...but it does look BETTER...and i finally have some new work posted and it's all available for sale.... still many more changes to make..but it's 4:14am and we leave at 8am to go to my Mother's for Thanksgiving..guess i'll be sleeping on the way. i built this site back in 1999/2000 on used pagemill software i purchased on ebay. it has just grown into a monster over the years, i just kept adding, now it's time to lighten the load, that seems to be a reoccuring theme for me these days.

wishing you a lovely holiday -  i have so much to be thankful for this year, i am truly blessed.

Anne's Art on a Bus!

Artbus_1

My painting, "Three Birds Flying" is featured on the back of buses in the Detroit area!  Common Ground Sanctuary's Art in the Park Committee decided to feature it in ads for their upcoming Art Fair, September 16-17 in Birmingham, Michigan. The sad part is that I had to cancel the show, some big changes for us happening around those dates...more on that later!

I also designed their Art Fair Poster back in 2001.
